For months we’ve talked about re-inventing TV for the digital age, and we’re thrilled to say it starts here and now. This post will cover three topics:

WHAT WE’RE BUILDING

Imagine owning and operating a television channel with your community…

Traditional TV has long since shown that aggregation of content is powerful in terms of both drawing bigger audiences and monetizing effectively. But this system is not easily accessible to most artists and communities. We are building an ecosystem that enables any creative community to have its own TV channel and reap the benefits of content aggregation, curation, and community growth tools.

A R3WIND channel is organized around a particular topic, genre, community, movement, ethos…if you can name it, it can theoretically be a channel (minus anything exploitative or harmful, of course). Within each channel, artists can come together to post their videos, curate the lineup of content, and engage with fellow artists and audiences in order to build a community directly within the channel.

We’ve found this simple combination of features to be powerful in early tests. But at this stage, we want begin developing the product alongside the people who will be using it. So we’re calling on any interested artists, creators, and organizations to come help us decide where to take it from here.

HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED ON THE GROUND FLOOR

Apply to join our pilot program! You’ll start one of the very first R3WIND channels and help us shape the ecosystem.

We are looking for the following types of applicants:

• Artists within communities who can pull in fellow artists and fill a channel with videos.

• Creative communities that are already producing a steady stream of video content.

• Collectives, DAOs, and companies interested in building an organic creative community around their brand.

• Individual artists who are able to build a community on R3WIND from scratch (you’ll have to demonstrate that you’ve successfully built a community in the past).

If you are an artist who does not fit into one of the above categories but is interested in participating in our pilot program, you can apply as well. We will bring you into a private space in our Discord along with other Pilot Season members, help you find channels to post to, and group you with other artists to potentially start a channel.

HOW YOU WILL BENEFIT FROM JOINING PILOT SEASON AND STARTING A R3WIND CHANNEL

For starters, we believe you’ll find R3WIND, even in MVP form, both fun and useful in a variety of ways. But if not, you’ll be able to tell us directly what needs improvement, and we’ll work with you to fix issues and add features. By the end of Pilot Season, we aim to have an ecosystem that is useful and delightful for the majority of our users.

Additionally, you will enjoy several privileges as we grow the ecosystem, including:

• Create another channel of your own.

• Invite friends and collaborators to create a channel of their own. You’ll be a huge part of how this ecosystem grows.

• Weigh in on product decisions on an ongoing basis.

• Access to a private creator network.

• Receive an NFT, to which these privileges are tied.

OUR PILOT SEASON NFT AND HOW IT FITS INTO THE MIX

Each person or entity invited to start a channel, as well as our top contributors during Pilot Season, will receive an NFT. The NFT is completely FREE. If you don’t have a wallet and/or don’t care about NFTs, no problem. Please apply anyway. If selected, we’ll help you set up a wallet and send you the NFT, and maybe you’ll find it useful in the future :)

We want to emphasize that R3WIND is for everyone. The NFT is above all a wonderful tool to help manage our ecosystem more efficiently from the start.

The NFT supply will be ~200, i.e. small. When we expand beyond Pilot Season, NFT holders will have the first opportunity to start new channels, giving them a head start in our ecosystem.

HOW YOU CAN GET A PILOT SEASON NFT IF YOU DO NOT QUALIFY TO START A CHANNEL

One of three ways:

• As we mentioned above, top artists during Pilot Season—i.e. those who interact with the ecosystem the most and whose videos get the most engagement—will be eligible to receive an NFT. If this route interests you, please fill out the Pilot Season application so we can more easily look out for your contributions and prioritize you for showing interest at this early stage.

• Those who have contributed meaningfully to R3WIND over the past year will be eligible for an NFT, based on the size of their contribution, available supply, and at founders’ discretion.

• Starting sometime in Q2 2023, we will sell or auction NFTs on a TBD periodic basis until the supply cap is reached. Those who acquire NFTs via financial entry will enjoy the same privileges as other holders.
